The 2017 ‘FIA Action of the Year’ competition is underway – and we’re asking for your help in supporting WRC nominee Esapekka Lappi.
Lappi’s spectacular flight over the Fafe jump at Vodafone Rally de Portugal is one of 10 moments shortlisted for the annual award, and is up against video clips from eight other FIA Championships this season.
The winner will be decided by public vote, and by backing the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver you could win win two paddock passes for the 2018 Formula One Silverstone weekend.
Portugal was Lappi’s first championship appearance in a World Rally Car and he impressed by trading times with his far more experienced team-mates Juho Hänninen and Jari-Matti Latvala.
But he saved his best until Sunday, when he was fourth quickest – and fastest Toyota driver – on the final two stages. Thanks to his ability to land this monster, and very twitchy, 33 metre, 120kph jump he collected two bonus points from the Power Stage to add to the one he claimed for tenth overall.
Take a look at the clip yourself below if you want a reminder – then head over to the FIA Action of the Year website to vote and register for the prize draw.
The competition closes on 24 November and the winner will be announced on 8 December at the FIA Prize-Giving.
