WRC stars will be honoured at a glamorous gala awards evening in Australia following the most exciting FIA World Rally Championship title fight in recent history.
Drivers, co-drivers and team bosses will celebrate the 2017 season on Sydney waterfront, immediately after Kennards Hire Rally Australia brings down the curtain on a captivating campaign.
Fans will vote for their favourites in various categories, including the headline Driver of the Year, ahead of the evening’s awards.
The WRC Gala Night, on Monday 20 November, will be held at the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art in the historic Rocks area. It lies in the shadow of the famous Harbour Bridge and across the water from the Opera House.
The event is organised by Rally Australia and WRC Promoter and up to 300 guests will attend representing teams, championship and event officials, Sydney personalities and government dignitaries.
Award-winning actor, comedian and TV celebrity Shane Jacobson will host the event. Jacobsen is a former Top Gear Australia presenter who has competed in the Australian Rally Championship.
Fans around the globe can enjoy the evening as it happens via the WRC’s social media channels and WRC TV will produce a 30-minute highlights programme for TV broadcast in December.
Twelve awards will be presented, with fans voting for nine on the championship’s official website at www.wrc.com.
The categories are:
• Driver of the Year
• Co-driver of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Most Power Stage points
• Most Special Stage wins
• WRC 7 Livery of the Year
